I wanted to like this book more than I did, but the ending sorta killed it. Rather than allowing the main heroine of the book, Honor, discover and use her own power to bring about a happy ending, it is Lia who does it. While I don't have a huge problem with this, it does weaken Honor as a character. Also, do not expect to find out what happened to Christoff or Rue, you will be disappointed. It is like Shana Abe completely forgot about the two characters whom started the whole series. Either she has a plan to reintroduce them or mention them in the next series she's written in the Drakon Universe, or she just hoped we'd forget about them (I sure didn't). Still, this book is a fabulous love story with some interesting twists. I just wish that we could have been given a less rushed ending. It felt like she just wanted to end it rather than give a complete resolution to all the various plot lines. Characters introduced briefly are covered briefly and serve no real purpose (so why bother?).

I am still very happy I read this series, and I still highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good romance series that sometimes gives up a healthy dose of bittersweet.

end of the series - loved it
I love Shana Abe books. Easy reading that take me to a place of fantasy and another world.
I really enjoyed the Abe's Drakon series, this is the fifth installment and is definitly not up to par with the rest of the series. Perhaps stopping at # 4 would have been better. Unlike most of her fiction this one felt a bit slapped together and definitly not what I expected. But I did finish the whole book so Abe's storytelling ability is definitly still present and many readers may really like this, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Very enjoyable all told. The 5th book I found a bit slow. And there's a lot of disparaging of smelly reeking humanity throughout the series. Not that I don't agree to some extent, but it's tedious as there's a lot of it. I enjoyed the story tho, that kept me going. Worth reading.
The whole series was excellent and this book,being the last, ties it up quite well. There were a few questions, about the fate of earlier characters, that weren't included. It was, overall, very good.
This was a great addition to the Drakon Series. The story was different because Honor's Gift is so unique from the other Drakon. But it has action and I was worried at times about what was going to happen...you get to know more of what happens with Zane and Lia and where they are. It has a happy ending which I appreciate cuz it could've gone badly for all but it did not. I would love another book that tells of the union between Darkfrith and the Zaharen! I did not find any of these 5 Drakon books to be dull or boring at all. I recommend them all!
I liked the first book, The Smoke Thief, so I bought the rest of the series, but every subsequent book was exactly the same and by the time I lost interest in their quest I was totally confused at the end. Lots of steamy, throbbing sex in each book, but really just reruns of the ones before.

The Smoke Thief was a good stand-alone novel, but as an epic series, it failed.
