This was a very sweet, heartwarming story about finding love after tragedy and loss. Hunter lost his wife in childbirth and Kali is recovering from an abusive marriage. I loved the slow build. I loved that he was just an everyday stand-up guy and not a manwhore using his pain as an excuse. I loved the normalcy of it all and the lack of over the top melodrama. :-) It does have some editing issues and inconsistencies which always bug me a bit because I'm very detail oriented. For instance, early in the book during Hunter's POV, we're told his late wife's parents moved a few towns over after her death because it was too painful to stay but, later, when he goes to pick his daughter up from their house, he sits in the car remembering all the times he picked his wife up from there and all their other memories there together. There are quite a few grammatical errors as well, especially hominem mistakes (site instead of sight) which were a bit irksome but not enough to kill the story. Overall, I'd recommend it as an excellent light read.Product details

Kali coming out of an abusive relationship and Hunter dealing with single parenthood after losing his wife make a great healing friendship that they fight to keep from becoming more.
This was a quick love read. Hunter loses his wife after giving birth to their daughter. Kali is trying to get away from her abusive husband. Fate comes along and unites these two. Great job)
I liked this book-its okay- but I had problems with the way Alyssa would go from talking like a three year old to talking like a much older kid. Also a ton of grammatical mistakes and run on sentences- it seemed like Mavericks was trying to stuff as much detail as possible in every sentence. It was very amateur writing and it didn't flow well at all. There wasnt really any good drama or angst.. just some sad stuff happening in the beginning and a hea in the end. I wouldnt recommend this unless it was fixed

I like the POV writing.
What I didn't like (and why I gave it 4 stars) are the noticeable spelling errors! You are is you're NOT your!! And then when Hunter told about Jana's parents moving to a nearby town (away from the home they raised Jana in) then a few pages later he has trouble going to their house because of his memory their WITH Jana. It didn't ruin the story but kinda bothered me. Especially when the wrong spelling was used so much.
It was still a good read that I would recommend.
This story was so amazing. I absolutely adored the characters, the interaction and the relationship they all shared. I smiled, I laughed, I cried and I felt everything these characters were feeling. Hunter is so damn strong. Kali is one tough woman. Your heart will bleed for them. The relationship between these two is so perfectly imperfect. The side characters you will fall in love with as well. I can't say enough how much I loved this book. Kaydee Mavericks brings it with her debut novel. I highly recommend this book!
This was a really sweet story about second chances. I enjoyed how Hunter and Kali took things slow even with the instant connection. I loved Hunter, Heath, and Peyton's bond. Alyssa definitely stole the show, how adorable was she! I really hope that Heath and Peyton will get a book because there is definitely a story there. The one thing I could not get over was the editing. It was pretty bad. Missing words, wrong names, extra words, completely wrong grammar, etc... It just took something away from totally enjoying this story 100%.
Hunter and Kali are such a sweet and loving couple. Hunter is dealing with the loss of his wife and focusing on raising his daughter. He is not interested in a woman in his life at this time but when Kali appears, he can’t stay away from her. Kali is getting over a divorce o=from an abusive husband and not looking for a man in her life. When she is around Hunter and his daughter she cant help feeling happy. Hunter and Kali fight their attraction for each other and Kali helps Hunter with his daughter.
